3 years and nearly $1 billion later, cleanup of Kalamazoo River oil spill continues
“We had plans for tornadoes and even terrorists, but we never had a plan for an oil release.” Especially in the water we depend on and intend to drink.
Three years ago today, an underground pipeline carrying tar sands oil to refineries near Detroit ruptured near Marshall, Michigan. Over the past three years, more than a million gallons of oil have been removed from the river. It’ll be many more years before the agency can measure the full impact on fish and other animals’ reproductive cycles. Some of the older trees that had to be removed could take decades to regrow, federal regulators estimate there’s still more than 100,000 gallons of oil on the river bottom. Regulators say the dredging will remove at least 12,000 gallons of oil. The rest of the oil will slowly get removed with sediment traps over time – or it’ll stay where it is.
DEA spokesperson Rusty Payne : Toronto Declared Narco State Any time I hear “the drug war” my antenna comes up. Follow the money. The GOP Tea Party are the main supporters of small government, the talk of military action over drug use is no less than baffling. How can a government respond to a reality that they create in such fashion? They are not concerned with healthcare, feeding hungry children, justice for all, or even children with guns. This makes me certain that they are hypocrites in matters of humanity. When my Government is more interested in what happens in my bedroom, and with whom; it is only a big and out of control government that could concern itself with what is in my medicine/drug cabinet. Here in the US, Corporations manipulate the government, who controls the military, with politics and propaganda that distract and feign concern for the rights of my unborn but are bent on interrupting a child’s welfare and education. Father’s are imprisoned, countries are invaded and religion is forced upon you while As quoted in Desmond Tutu: A Biography (2004) When the missionaries came to Africa they had the Bible and we had the land. They said “Let us pray.” We closed our eyes. When we opened them, we had the Bible and they had the land. By choosing the war on drugs in this country, you create a workforce of slaves. Together with Canada’s largest pipeline company spending $2.8-billion to “twin” its Spearhead pipeline from Flanagan, Ill., to Cushing, Okla., and another $1.1-billion to nearly triple capacity on its Seaway system between the Midwest storage hub and the Houston area. My mathematical calculations are impeccable. Keystone Pipeline + drugs from Afghanistan moved to Toronto create a ready prison Industry – a reluctant approval by environmental groups – Hundreds gathered in the cold Toronto rain to oppose the proposal for the oil pipeline called Line 9B operated by energy company Enbridge. Canada’s National Energy Board (NEB) has been asked to approve Enbridge’s project that would enable them to bring oil from Alberta’s tar sands to 600 kilometers of pipeline running through Ontario and Quebec. + Resolution in Support of the Keystone XL Pipeline members of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) – tar sands oil spills
